The Summertime Setup for Getup Part 2: The Sinful Saint

One of the most important reasons to go to college is to get an education, right? I guess. But some would argue that if you don’t get out and meet as many people as possible, you’ve wasted your time. That’s why I’m so glad to have met Saint.
I met Christian “Saint” Meyer at the intersection of 14th and Kilbourn in Milwaukee during the first few weeks of our freshman year at Marquette University. It was a Friday or Saturday night, so you can guess that we were both a little turnt at that point. We became friends pretty quickly, as we had a couple of mutuals, and both enjoyed hip hop extensively. I recall that Baby Keem’s The Melodic Blue had just been released, and I overheard him talking about the album, so I interjected with my own opinion. To most people, that likely would have been seen as rude. Saint appreciated that I was ready and willing to discuss it despite the two of us being strangers.
In sophomore year, we lived on the same floor, so we hung out more often and got to know each other better. It was around this time I learned that Saint started his brand, SINFUL SAINT, about a year or two prior. I’m not sure when specifically, but it seems he solidified his brand on July 7th, 2021. I’d describe his pieces as blending the styles of Virgil Abloh and Nigö, injected with his own taste that he developed growing up in Chicago and being a black man proud of his heritage.
This is why I reached out to him for this series. As I said in my previous article, I’m no expert. But he is. He grew his brand from nothing, to over 1,200 followers today, so I’d say his opinions for what us guys should wear this summer are pretty credible. I should also mention that Saint is a Law Student at Loyola University, and he worked on Capitol Hill during the spring of 2024, so it’s safe to say he’s a very smart guy.
He pointed out to me that a good outfit is “always dependent on a few things. Job, location, [and] how outside you are, but generally I’m pushing variety.” Once again, I’ve structured this article based around the four major components of an outfit, and his opinions on them:
The Upper Deck (Shirts)
The Lower Deck (Pants)
The Keel (Shoes)
The Sail (Accessories)
For his upper deck, Saint says he’s hitting consignment stores this summer. He’s looking to get “tight ringers & graphic tees, but only for when I’m willing to go a bit smaller on the shorts as well.” He told me he also has a polo in the works, and released a tee not too long ago to kick off the summer.
As for his lower deck, Saint says:
“I’m denim till I die so you will see me in jorts.”
Personally speaking, jorts have never been my thing, but who am I to argue with the Sinful Saint? Denim is a clear beloved material for him. Almost every outfit you’ll see on his Instagram grid involves jeans or jorts. So if your frame supports it, jorts it. Holy hell that took all the air out of this paragraph didn’t it? Either way, he supports jorts, so no reason you can’t rock them too.
Despite his status as a future lawyer, Saint remains a man of few words. He prefers to let his cadence and reputation do most of the talking, which is why it was no surprise that his opinions on your keel and sail were pretty limited.
Regarding shoes and accessories, he had just one thing to say:
“Buy local and wear AF1!!!”
Don’t get it twisted.
Saint is the kind of guy you want in your corner when it comes to fashion. He’s curated his own style that speaks for itself, and his pieces are very comfortable. I actually wear one of his pieces, a hoodie that is part of the GSOE collection, pretty regularly. I’ve always appreciated his brand’s ability to voice itself loud and proud, but also tell you to stay out of its way.
